From purely acoustic pieces to those supported by electronics and visual projections, the showstopping program features works specially written for Dhar by acclaimed living composers, with a few favorites from past composers. It culminates in the groundbreaking solo version of Adam Schoenberg’s Automation, a double concerto pitting the human cellist against holographic AI cellist A.G.N.E.S. (Automatic Generator Network of Excellent Songs). You’ll come for the weeping melodies and leave with jaw dropped wondering, “Was that actually played on the cello?”
